Thank you, David Pridden
It is with great sadness that we say farewell to our Chairman David Pridden, who died this month following a short battle with cancer. David became our Chairman in 2015 through his involvement with the Simmons Private Equity Investment Committee. Without him, the Seanamic Group could not be what it is today.
David was an entrepreneur at heart, and had a full and distinguished career in the energy industry. He was a true leader, respected by colleagues and peers for his management style, enthusiasm and commitment to the subsea sector. As the first Chief Executive of Subsea UK, David promoted innovative technology developments and attracted the vital investments needed to create the influential, self-sustaining organisation. This is just one success story from his varied career; David’s achievements in building and growing companies speak volumes for his tenacious confidence and business acumen.
David was a firm believer in alternative energy. He invested in early phase wave energy technology and new consulting companies set up to explore the potential for electric vehicles. He was also instrumental in the establishment of the NaREC facilities, and Wavehub in Cornhill.
But David wasn’t all business. He had a real passion for people, and will be remembered by many for his wise counsel, and encouraging words for those wanting to take the leap and begin their own enterprises. He was compassionate and respectful: a constant support to individuals through career-related and personal challenges.
As Chairman of our Group, David was an earnest and steadfast leader throughout the challenges we’ve faced in the last two years. For us on the management team he was a genuine friend, and we are truly thankful for the time, help and inspiration he gave us. He will be sorely missed, and never forgotten.
